FEELING & DESIGN

The Carrie provides us as much agility as a regular bike, with a two-legged stand that can simply jack up the cargo bike and safely park it even with it fully loaded.

The optional Flex Box, when unfolded, provides a spacious loading area of 45 by 65cm, making it easy to carry various items. It can be paired with a child seat, allowing for the comfortable transport of one young passenger. Additionally, the child cover option ensures reliable protection from wind and weather.

This agile and compact model handles Porto's steep cobblestone streets quite well, providing parents with an option to see their kids all the time in front of them.

With its adjustable saddle height and angle- and height-adjustable stem, the seat position can be configured to accommodate riders from 1.50m to 2.00m tall, and sporty to comfortable riding preferences.

Color options:

  • Anise;

  • Shadow;

  • Aqua - which is the color of our test model.

DRIVE UNIT

Already with the new smart system, the Performance Line BOSCH Motor, provides the power needed to tackle steep inclines and challenging weather conditions.

In the context of Porto, having some assistance from the motor is always a welcome addition, enabling us to better navigate the constant ups and downs of the city.

With this motor, we can carry our kid or heavy cargo on the front without breaking a sweat.

Battery

The Carrie comes equipped with a Bosch removable 545 Wh powerpack battery, making it ideal for replacing your car in busy urban areas. For extended range, you also have the option to upgrade to a 725 Wh battery.

Weighing approximately 3kg, having the possibility to remove the battery for charging elsewhere offers a more convenient approach, allowing you to take it with you and charge it wherever needed.

DISPLAY - Smart control centre

As standard your display will be the Purion 200. The upgrade for the Kiox 300 display is a better option for better visibility and functionality, as for example the use of the screen as a key to lock and unlock the alarm, which is why we do prefer this rather than the other optional display, the intuvia 100.

Conveniently use the LED Remote to select your riding mode: the colour indicates your selected riding mode.

VARIANTS - Transmissions

The Carrie can be paired with a Touring (cassete), City (cassete) or Vario (enviolo) transmissions.

In a city like Porto, where frequent stops and starts are common, the Enviolo gear system from the Vario variant proves to be fantastic, especially for riders who are not accustomed to shifting gears frequently.

This system enables gear shifting even when the bicycle is stationary, which is especially handy on the hilly streets of Porto when waiting for the green light.

The internal gear hub houses all components inside the rear wheel, shielding them from dirt and rain.

Paired with the Carbon belt drive, Enviolo uses high-resistance carbon fibers for a lighter, maintenance-free alternative. Unlike traditional cassette systems, the belt-drive with internal gear hub reduces the risk of derailment or faulty shifts.

This model is also available with Microshift ADVENT X, 10-speed (Touring) and Shimano Nexus grip shift, 5-speed (City).

Safe on the road at all times

The rear and front brakes are the two-piston Magura MT4, featuring carbon fiber construction for lighter weight and aluminum levers ergonomically designed for two-finger operation.

We can truly feel the quality and trust Magura for the safety of ourselves and our loved ones.

Additionally, the Büchel Z-Fire Mini, is included as the tail light, with a minimalistic design.

TIRES

As standard, at the front, you’ll get Schwalbe Big Ben Plus 55-406 Reflex, providing adequate traction and durability for urban riding conditions. On the rear, you will get the Schwalbe Super Moto-X 62-406.

Specifically for Porto, this tires are wide and safe enough to cross cobblestone streets and avoid falling on the rails.

If you're mainly planning to ride on cycle lanes, some cobblestone streets or paved roads, these tires will offer the comfort you need to ride safely and comfortably.

suspension

The SR Suntour Mobie A32 CGO, 20", with an air amplitude of 50 millimeters, ensures great stability.

Its stiffness can be adjusted manually in the fork without the need for special tools. This feature is particularly appreciated on the cobblestone streets of downtown Porto, where riding can be quite challenging.

Front RACK

You can carry up to two children in the front of the bike.

The Flex box is very handy and versatile, specially with the possibility of closing it when it’s not needed, saving space, and providing a more agile riding experience.

For younger passengers, the Flex Box can be paired with a child seat, allowing for the comfortable transport of one young passenger. Even though it’s meant for two, we felt that one is the proper way to go.

Additionally, the optional weather protection the child seat cover, ensures passengers stay dry and cozy in all conditions.

STABILITY

The wide double kickstand on the Carrie provides great stability.

Get on the bike and push it off, and the kickstand will retract.
The opposite function occurs when you stop - placing our feet down on the kickstand and then just pull it back on to the stand.

This versatility makes it perfect for everyday use by families, households, or groups of friends.

FINAL THOUGHTS

The Carrie is by far Riese & Müller’s most compact frontloader, with superb agility.

We recommend it for couples with significant different heights who are planning on sharing the E-bike, since it comes with the possibility of adjusting the handlebars to a more or less sporty position and also to higher or lower height.

Although the Carrie can transport two kids in the front, we are more inclined to recommend taking only one — the Flex Box is relatively compact and smaller than we would like.

If you have only one small child and don't have a plan to have a larger family, Carrie might be a good fit, but there is nothing better than coming for a test ride. For bigger families, we have the Load and the Packster.
