Understanding E-Bike Batteries

THE POWERHOUSE

E-bike batteries, typically lithium-ion, power the bike's motor and influence factors like range and charging time. Integrated or removable, they vary in voltage, capacity, and cost. Battery management systems ensure longevity. Environmental considerations include proper disposal and recycling.

Bosch E-Bike batteries are efficient, long-life power sources. They combine low weight with ergonomic design and simple handling. Thanks to their impressive mileage, long service life and an intelligent battery management system (BMS), which protects the battery from damage, they are among the most modern and safest on the market.

Powerful in every design

When it comes to E-Bike batteries, we can choose from one of three battery locations/designs/choices.

The PowerPack, as a frame battery, offers easy access and removal, promoting balanced weight distribution with its low center of gravity.

The Power Pack rack batteries, positioned higher on the E-Bike, allow convenient removal and charging while standing.

The PowerTube, an integrated batterie, seamlessly integrate into the frame for an elegant and clean E-Bike appearance.

The CompactTube 400, light, slim and high-density, delivering 400 watt-hours, offers a sleek appearance with robust electric support.

POWERPACK FRAME

The PowerPack Frame batteries are located on the outside of E-Bike frame, on the seat tube or downtube. They feature a carrying handle so that you can remove them easily to charge separately or within the bicycle, and carry them conveniently.

All frame batteries of the smart system use the same mount. You can simply insert another battery, if the geometry of the E-Bike allows it. You can use a smaller battery to reduce the weight or a larger one to increase the range.

POWER PACK RACK

The PowerPack Rack is positioned on or under the luggage rack. For E-Bikes with a step-though frame this battery position has advantages – greater freedom, for example, when mounting or dismounting. In addition, thanks to their higher position on the E-Bike, the powerful batteries can be easily and conveniently attached and removed. The greater distance to the ground also protects them from water splashes and any impact from stones.

POWERTUBE

Bosch PowerTube, for the highest demands in terms of performance - ranging from 500 to 750Wh, and aesthetics, blending ideally into the clean design of the E-Bike. Discreetly integrated into the frame tube, these high-quality power sources are barely noticeable, arriving in two variants, horizontal or vertical.

Whether you're engaging in sporty trail riding with your eMTB, tackling energy-demanding uphill journeys on a fully loaded E-Cargo Bike, or simply enjoying shorter daily rides in the city, the developed features are tailored to diverse cycling experiences.

COMPACTTUBE 400

The CompactTube 400 with innovative battery cell technology offers the highest energy density of all Bosch E-Bike batteries. Slim, integrated, compact and delivering 400 watt hours at a weight of only around 2 kilograms, it's a real energy champion.

This makes the extra-lightweight battery the ideal choice for sporty, light eMTBs, minimalist E-Gravel Bikes or design-oriented E-Urban Bikes – in short, for anyone who loves the sleek appearance of conventional bikes but doesn't want to do without electric support.

DualBattery

DualBattery is ideal if you want to ride long distances or are riding an E-Bike that consumes more energy – for example an E-Cargo Bike.

You can combine two PowerPacks or two PowerTubes. In the Bosch E-Bike system, the combination of two batteries delivers up to 1,250 watt hours.

From spring 2024 you can also combine a PowerTube with a PowerPack.

DualBattery SMART SYSTEM

Use two batteries simultaneously for even more range.

In the smart system, the combination of two PowerPack Frame 800 batteries gives you a total of 1,600 watt hours – allowing you to ride up to 300 km.

NEW In the smart system, you can now also combine two batteries that do not correspond to the same design: e.g. an integrated battery (PowerTube) with a frame battery (PowerPack Frame).

RANGE EXTENDER PowerMore 250

PowerMore 250 is the additional battery the size of a drinks bottle for even greater range and longer-lasting trail fun. Compact in size and weighing just 1.5 kilograms, the Range Extender can be easily mounted in the water bottle holder.

The Range Extender can be combined with all batteries of the smart system.
