Riese & Müller UBN Five and UBN Seven - Urban Segment
DISTINCTIVE FEATURES
While not explicitly gender-specific, the UBN Five appears designed for individuals who prefer a frame with a straight top tube.
In contrast, the UBN Seven, as per the brand's marketing material, is presented as a more feminine model, featuring a fully curved frame that facilitates easier hopping on and off.
These designs deviate somewhat from the typical figures Riese & Müller has showcased in recent years.
The distinctive feature of both the UBN Five and Seven is the inclusion of the electric system triad by FAZUA, unique to this new Urban line segment.
This includes the groundbreaking FAZUA Ride 60 motor, boasting 60 Nm of torque, a FAZUA Energy 430 Wh battery, and a FAZUA LED Hub display on the handlebar's cockpit.
Notably, the UBN Five and Seven are among the first bikes in the world to feature this motor.
VARIANTS
As mentioned earlier, these lightweight bicycles are designed for urban commuting, catering to those seeking a straightforward pedaling experience on city streets with minimal inclines.
Both the UBN Five and UBN Seven come in three available variants with consistent features:
Touring: Positioned as the entry model, it features a Shimano Shadow+ XT 11-speed derailleur paired with a traditional steel chain. The Urban segment introduces the new Fazua Ride 60 motor. The Touring model weighs 19.5 kg.
Silent: This model is equipped with an internal gear hub by Shimano, specifically the Alfine 8-speed, coupled with a carbon belt drive by Gates. The Silent model weighs 21 kg.
Singlespeed: A unique offering from the German brand, this model features a rear hub by Novatec with a single axis for a single speed, paired with a carbon belt drive by Gates. It's well-suited for rides with minimal inclines. The Singlespeed model is the lightest among the two models, weighing 18 kg.
Shared Components
In addition to the differences in transmissions, both UBN models share standard components.
These include the Supernova Mini 2 front light, Schwalbe Marathon Supreme tires (available in a 28'' size, with no other size options regardless of the frame), and TRP HS-EU817 brakes.
Both UBN models also incorporate the RX Chip, an intelligent system developed by Riese & Müller that connects the bike to a smartphone. This enables the use of the smartphone as the cockpit's display through the official application. The RX Chip offers various connectivity features, including GPS tracking with real-time display, ride statistics, map navigation, and an alarm system.
The multi-level alarm system is triggered by suspicious movements, providing notifications.
