For those who don’t care so much about the innovation that Bosch brought with their new smart system, some old models of Riese & Müller can now be purchased at a 15% discount on their retail price.
The reason for this price reduction is clear and straightforward: Bosch is discontinuing sales of the old system to manufacturers and will only continue producing parts to support their service efforts for up to 8 years after the cessation of sales.
Due to the differing timelines of innovation between technology and the design and manufacturing of frames, most manufacturers will undergo a gradual transition to the new smart system.
Riese & Müller, known for being at the forefront of innovation in the bike industry, has already replaced almost its entire portfolio of bikes with the new smart system. As a result, the company has decided this week to reduce the prices of its old models by 15% to facilitate the sale of remaining stock.
We only recommend our clients to buy the old generation if:
You may not prioritize the option of installing the Bosch Alarm (though you can still order with an RX Chip from Riese & Müller);
Your cross-country trips benefit from easier access to service with a platform that has broader distribution;
ABS technology may not be a priority for you;
You may not prioritize the possibility of having dynamic supporting modes (such as Tour+ and Auto, which are only available in the Smart System);
The 15% reduction in price is significant for you.
