You have a week or less to to the Camino and you want the full Porto → Santiago experience in a shorter window, without the feeling of being rushed.
This route was designed for a moderate experience level, averaging around 50 km/30 miles per day, with a smooth, well-paced rhythm and built-in time for stops, photos, and proper breaks.

Arrive in Santiago accomplished, not exhausted.

  • 60 km / 38 miles

    The Challenge: Easy (1/5)
~470m of gain over 60km, mostly on boardwalks. However, the "Atlantic Wall" of northern headwinds often makes this feel like a moderate effort. Don’t worry, your motor won’t even feel it, so your legs definitely won’t either.

Highlights: Meeting the mouth of the river Douro, cycling the bridge over the Port of Leixões, and hitting the endless wooden boardwalks. In Vila do Conde, stop to see the Nau Quinhentista, a life-sized replica of a 16th-century ship that perfectly sets the tone for your own voyage of discovery.

The Insider’s View: The journey begins at the Sé Cathedral, where you get your first pilgrim stamp. The real magic happens as you descend through the narrow medieval alleys to the Ribeira. As you follow the Douro River to the Atlantic, the air shifts from urban history to salty breeze.

What to Expect: A flat, fast "flow" state. It’s the perfect intro to your e-bike’s dynamics, gliding, and discovering quiet fishing towns along the coast.

  • 52km / 32 miles

    The Challenge: Moderate (3/5)
~800m elevation gain, including the first significant technical climb.

Highlights: Santuário de Santa Luzia. Saying more is not fair to this magic local. The e-bike turns the grueling hike into a joyful panoramic ascent with one of the world's best views.

What to Expect: A mix of eucalyptus forest trails and old stone paths.
The high humidity of the Minho woods and the vibration of Viana's cobblestones add to the "perceived" exertion.

The Insider’s View: This is the green soul of the Minho region.
Crossing the iron Eiffel Bridge into Viana do Castelo is a rite of passage where the industrial age meets natural beauty.

  • 35km / 22 miles

    The Challenge: Easy-Moderate (2/5)
    ~570m elevation gain. A scenic, border-crossing journey.

Highlights: The Monastery of Oia, standing where the mountains meet the sea, and the grand medieval walls of the Monte Real Fortress in Baiona.

What to Expect: A dramatic coastal road with the ocean constantly on your left. Expect lateral sea winds that can be gusty. However, the e-bike’s robust build provides reassuring stability.

The Insider’s View: The ferry crossing over the Rio Minho is a magical threshold. In around ten minutes, you leave Portugal and start your Galician adventure.

  • 58 km / 36 miles

    The Challenge: Hard (5/5)
~1100m elevation gain. The toughest stage. The climb to Saigráns will test your battery management skills.

Highlights: Stopping in Arcade for world-famous oysters, finding the best place to eat tapas in every corner, and the granite maze of Pontevedra's old quarter.

What to Expect: Steep trails and slippery granite paths, especially if the typical Galician drizzle appears. This stage earns you your arrival.

The Insider’s View: Use "Sport" or "Turbo" mode strategically on the hills around Vigo, but save enough battery for the beautiful final technical descents into Pontevedra.

  • 60 km / 38 miles

    The Challenge: Moderate-Hard (4/5)
~680m elevation gain. Long distance combined with accumulated fatigue and rolling Galician hills.

Highlights: Thermal springs in Caldas de Reis and the emotional entry into Praça do Obradoiro to the sound of bagpipes.

What to Expect: Ancient Roman paths and thick forests. The final climb into the city can feel twice as steep after five days on the saddle.

The Insider’s View: As you pass through Padrón, look for the "Pedrón" stone in the church, the anchor of the Apostle's legendary voyage, before your own final triumph.

You want the journey to feel complete with comfortable daily distances, time to make some detours, meet other pilgrims, long lunches, photos, and spontaneous stops.
We curated this route for an easy-to-moderate level experience, around 40km/25 miles per day, the most natural pace for most riders, with the time needed to feel the freedom to explore.

Arrive in Santiago with time to enjoy it.

7 days

Take time to explore the Convento de Santa Clara in Vila do Conde, because the views of the town and the surrounding coast from there are the best in town.

What to Expect: Flat, with seaside cycle paths and a very relaxed feeling.

    The Challenge: Easy-Moderate (2/5)
~200m elevation gain. A short joyride on mostly flat, paved shoreline paths.

Highlights: The pristine, deserted beaches of Afife and Carreço, accessible only by these coastal trails.

What to Expect: Fresh salt air and a meditative pace. The biggest challenge is leaving the comfort of the cafes in the central square.

The Insider’s View: Plan for a long Albariño lunch in Caminha’s medieval Praça Conselheiro Silva Torres. It’s the best place to watch the international ferry traffic. If you wish for something lite for lunch, “Pra lá Caminha” will leave you speechless with their miscellaneous and tasty menu, less than a 1 min away from Moledo’s beach.

~1100m elevation gain. High assist usage is required on the steep sections around the Vigo estuary.

Highlights: The Virgem Peregrina Church (scallop-shaped) and the vibrant tapas atmosphere in Pontevedra's plazas.

What to Expect: Rewarding vistas over the floating mussel farms and more time to rest in the city's historic granite center.

The Insider’s View: If the climb feels too much, use "Turbo" and take a long break in Vigo for tapas. If you feel ok after the climb, enjoy your time in Pontevedra, with tapas of course.

  • 41 km / 25 miles

    The Challenge: Easy-Moderate (2/5)
~463m elevation gain. Shade from Galician forests keeps the temperature perfect despite some uneven stone paths.

Highlights: The spa town of Caldas de Reis and a feast of world-famous Padrón Peppers.

What to Expect: Inland trails through chestnut groves and Roman paths. A restorative day focused on recovery.

The Insider’s View: Soak your feet in the public thermal spring in the main square of Caldas. It’s 40ºC and is the ultimate "reset" for tired legs.

  • 24km / 15 mile

    The Challenge: Moderate (3/5)
~475m elevation gain. A short "victory lap" with a psychological boost that masks the physical work.

Highlights: Arriving in time for the Botafumeiro ceremony and the final yellow arrows leading into the Cathedral square.

What to Expect: An emotional crescendo. The final uphill push into the city is the last test before your triumph.

The Insider’s View: Head straight to the Pilgrim’s Office to collect your Compostela certificate before the afternoon crowds arrive.

RIESE & MÜLLER NEVO

your premium camino E-BIKE

The Camino is a conversation between you and the landscape, and our e-bike lets you listen.

We chose the Riese & Müller Nevo to make that conversation effortless, with quiet power when you need it, stability where the Way gets rough, and comfort that lasts all day.

Every detail is curated to reduce strain and increase presence, so your attention stays on the Atlantic air, the forests, and the meaning you’re seeking, day after day.

    • Geometry developed for a comfortable experience, even in consecutive days of riding;

    • Open frame, for an easy hop-in and out, adding ease;

    • Kinekt active seatpost suspension, which isolates you from bumps and road vibration, keeping you comfortably in the saddle with a steadier connection to the bike. By reducing bounce and excess movement at key contact points, it improves comfort, control, and traction, so you feel less fatigue and enjoy riding longer distances

    • Suntour Mobie front suspension fork built for confident, all-day touring. Its stiff 34mm chassis keeps steering precise under load, while 100mm of smooth travel absorbs cobbles, rough paths, and broken pavement, reducing fatigue and keeping the front wheel planted for better comfort, control, and traction.

    • Selle Royal Explora Moderate, acomfort-first touring saddle designed for moderate riding positions (not fully upright, not fully aggressive, 60º angle) and mixed-terrain days. It uses strategically placed Royalgel™ to reduce pressure where it matters most, plus an ergonomic central channel that relieves soft-tissue pressure while supporting the sit-bone zone.

    • Stable, spacious touring setup with 18L Riese & Müller front bag plus 40L Ortlieb rear panniers, both waterproof, keeping weight balanced and handling composed all day.

    • Magura hydraulic disc brakes deliver powerful, progressive stopping with minimal hand effort, precise control, and confident braking in touring conditions.

    • Schwalbe Johny Watts and/or Smart Sam tires were built for e-bike adventures, with a fast-rolling center tread for efficiency on pavement, with grippy side knobs for confident cornering on dirt, gravel, and forest tracks.
The result is a stable, secure ride off-road, without sacrificing smooth, quiet speed on the road.

    • Tannus puncture and rim protector for inner tubes isa protective insert that helps prevent pinch flats and punctures while shielding the rim, providing more peace of mind and fewer interruptions.

    • Supernova lights are high-end German lighting with a bright, clean beam and excellent side visibility, built for safety and reliability in low light, rain, and early/late riding hours.

    • 625Wh Bosch battery: expect around 60 to 100 km per day, depending on assist level, terrain, wind, and load, with simple overnight charging.

    • Bosch Performance Line CX: Powerful, responsive support that makes steep climbs and loaded riding feel effortless, with 85 Nm of torque for confident momentum when it matters.

  • While we appreciate the modern look of belt drives, we have specifically reimagined our Santiago fleet with high-performance cassette systems.

This choice ensures that your journey is never broken.

Standard parts mean absolute reparability in even the smallest mountain village, because your spiritual momentum is too precious to be paused by a lack of specialized tools.

    That’s why we use:

    • Shimano CUES 11-speed transmission: smooth, practical gearing for touring with a wide range for climbs and long days, with reliable shifting that’s easy to live with/repair if needed on the road.

ABOUT THE EXPERIENCES

FAQS

  • We recommend cycling between March and October. Late spring (May/June) and early autumn (September/October) offer the most pleasant temperatures and vibrant scenery, avoiding the intense heat of July and August.

  • The Portuguese Coastal Way is generally moderate. The first stages are mostly flat and beginner-friendly, while Galicia adds rolling hills and a few steeper climbs. With our premium e-bikes, most active beginners to intermediate riders can comfortably complete the route.

  • No. If you can confidently ride a bicycle, you’re good to go!
Our Bosch motors make conquering steep climbs like Saigráns feel effortless.
We’ll explain how the setup works and answer all your questions, so your trip is seamless.

  • Like any rental service, we will ask for a valid ID or Passport and a credit card authorization of 500€ per e-bike reserved.

  • Most experiences begin at our CICLO shop in Vila Nova de Gaia, conveniently located near the Porto riverside.

  • Yes, to ensure equipment availability and logistics planning, especially for self-guided and private guided tours during peak season.

  • Our touring e-bikes use 625Wh batteries (or higher, depending on the model). Typical real-world range is 80–100 km per charge, depending on terrain, wind, rider weight, luggage, and assist level.
To maximize range, use Eco/Tour on flat boardwalks and save Turbo for steeper climbs.
We provide chargers for overnight charging or mid-day top-ups, when outlets are available.

  • While our urban fleet often uses Gates Carbon Drive belts for silence and cleanliness, we utilize standard chain-and-cassette systems for long-distance touring. This ensures maximum reparability, as standard components are readily available in any rural Galician village, unlike specialized belt drive parts.

  • Our bikes are adjustable to fit almost any size, whether you're short, tall, male, female, or a child.
As long as you're over 1.50 meters (4ft9) tall and under 140kg (310lbs), you're all set to ride!

  • In a Self-Guided tour, you are the pilot. We provide the GPS, handle your luggage, and book your hotels, and you ride at your own pace independently.
In a Private Tour, you have a dedicated CICLO guide riding with you. The guide handles all the "mental load": navigation, timing, and local stories, while the support team provides the safety net for tired legs, empty stomachs, or mechanical issues.

  • It depends on the product (rental, self-guided, private guided tour).
We always aim to set you up with the essentials: e-bike, charger, helmet, high-security lock, waterproof panniers, mechanical kit, and a proper safety briefing. Your confirmation email will list everything included.

  • Our Self-Guided and Guided tours include a daily luggage transfer service. Simply leave your bags at the hotel reception by morning, and they will be delivered to your next accommodation, usually by 3:00 PM, allowing you to ride light with only a small day pack.

If you’re travelling with a larger suitcase, you can store it with us until you return. Alternatively, if you prefer, we can forward it to Santiago so it’s waiting for you on your arrival day.

  • If you’re not sure what to pack, keep it simple and focus on comfort and weather protection.

    • Clothing: Comfortable, breathable layers you can pedal in. Avoid long, loose items that could catch on the bike.

    • Shoes: Closed-toe shoes with a firm sole (sneakers or light walking shoes).

    • Weather: A light rain jacket or windbreaker is strongly recommended year-round. Weather conditions can change quickly.

    • Essentials: Water bottle, sunglasses, sunscreen, and a small snack.

    • Phone & navigation: A fully charged smartphone. If you’re doing a rental or self-guided route, a power bank is very helpful.

    • Personal items: Any medication you may need, and a small amount of cash for cafés/stops.

  • You have a few comfortable options:

    • Private transfer (recommended): a premium private van back to Porto (time varies with traffic. Consider roughly ~2.5–3 hours on the road.)

    • Public transport: bus or train options typically take longer (often around 4+ hours total).
If you choose the train, note that the Porto–Vigo Celta requires seat reservations and has limited capacity.

    • We can advise on logistics and bike handling depending on the option you choose.

  • For e-bike rentals, we offer a full refund if you cancel at least 7 days before your start date. Cancellations made within 7 days are non-refundable.

For Self-Guided and Private Guided tours, bookings are non-refundable because the experience requires pre-booked third-party services (such as accommodations, luggage transfers, and partner arrangements).

Rescheduling may be possible, but it depends on our partners’ availability. Contact us as early as possible, and we’ll do our best to find an alternative date.

Policies vary by product and season. Your booking confirmation includes the exact terms.

Your only 'job' is to enjoy the Atlantic breeze. We handle the heavy lifting, the mechanics, and the navigation, so you can focus on the destination.

Your only 'job' is to enjoy the Atlantic breeze. We handle the heavy lifting, the mechanics, and the navigation, so you can focus on the destination.

Each day starts with a quick check-in on bike setup, battery, and route conditions, and we adapt the plan on the spot for weather, energy levels, or comfort.

Behind the scenes, your guide stays in constant contact with the CICLO support team and local partners, so if anything ever requires external assistance (from a quick adjustment to a replacement solution), it’s coordinated immediately and handled for you.
