FEELING & DESIGN

The Homage4 is a comfortable long-distance all-road step-through E-Bike.

The moment you swing your leg over the saddle, you'll instantly feel the relaxed and upright pedaling position, offering a clear view of your surroundings and inspiring confidence in most situations.

The friendly and confidence-boosting handling, along with outstanding navigation and connectivity features, paired with the dual-battery system, make it ideal for extended rides and adventurous tours, even with heavy panniers on the rack.

DRIVE UNIT

The option for the Performance Line Speed drive unit stands out, as it can assist our pedaling power up to 45 km/h.

This equates to 340% of support, reinforced by the 85 Nm of engine torque from the latest update.

In the context of Porto, having a bit more starting power is a welcome addition, enabling us to better navigate the constant ups and downs of the city.

We felt like high-performance athletes as soon as the top speeds kicked in!
The thrill of arriving quickly at our destinations, alongside traffic, is undoubtedly a highlight!

The Homage4 also features the Performance Line CX drive unit, to those for whom reaching higher speeds is not a necessity.

Battery

With its Bosch Performance Line CX motor and seamlessly integrated, removable 750 Wh battery, and the option for a DualBattery 1250, providing a range of up to 150 kilometers, the emphasis is on a comfortable riding experience, offering elegance and absolute versatility.

The Homage4 is a comfortable long-distance all-road step-through electric bike.

With the DualBattery 1250 option, the bike weighs 34kg, making it challenging to carry up a narrow staircase. Therefore, finding a safe and easy place to park her is definitely something to consider.

While starting from a standstill, the Homage4 may initially feel somewhat heavy, but once you gain momentum, it proves to be smooth and stable.

DISPLAY - Smart control centre

The Bosch Kiox 300 display is the ideal smart gadget to have with you on everyday trips or more challenging rides – keep an eye on your trip and fitness data on the large colour display. Thanks to the adjustable angle of the stem, you can select a sitting position to suit your needs anywhere between comfortable and sporty.

Additionally, there's the Bosch Kiox 500 display, which enlarges the screen by 40%, offering larger fonts and a wider view.

As standard Bosch Purion 200 display without cockpit also creates a tidy appearance and provides a minimalistic overview of your speed, range and much more.

We can connect both displays to our smartphone to activate other functionalities such as navigation and fitness programs. Statistical data, including the record of our rides, can be uploaded to the digital platform eBike Connect, accessible via smartphone or computer.

Variants - tRANSMISSION

Our test-ride model comes with the electronic Rohloff E-14 gear system, which connects the mechanical Rohloff Speedhub 14-speed gear hub to the eShift function of the Bosch e-bike system through an electronic gear shift activation unit.

This allows for seamless communication between the drive and gear, synchronizing the gear-shifting process to ensure it's light, precise, and efficient. An ergonomic switch with two buttons replaces the traditional twist shift grip and gear cables.

The fluidity of Rohloff turns it into the best option to combine with the High Speed variant. Mostly Rohloff is used to hit the trails and some mountain biking, due to his wider range of gears, but also for those who seek for a more intuitive control on th gears - however this comes with a pricetag, so be sure if this is something that it’s a much.

The Homage4 is also available with either a Shimano XT 11-speed on the Touring variant or an Enviolo 380 continuous in the Vario variant.

Safe on the road at all times

In terms of safety, the possibility of reaching higher speeds may typically lead to concerns about safety.

However, with the Bosch eBike ABS 2.0 option, there are more effective reactions to road conditions, enabling safer and more confident braking with both brakes simultaneously. It prevents the front wheel from locking, reducing the risk of skidding and ensuring stability even during sudden, heavy braking on various surfaces.

As it is usual with other Riese & Müller bikes, the Homage4 has Magura brakes.

At the rear, we find the two-piston Magura MT4 brakes, while the front boasts the more powerful Magura MT5 brakes with four pistons.

Both feature lighter weight and aluminum levers ergonomically designed. High-speed models typically include an Ergotec rearview mirror mounted on the left side of the handlebar. This is a must that enables us to anticipate traffic and maintain better control of our surroundings.

FRONT AND TAIL LIGHTS

The Supernova Mini Pro-25 serves as the front light, thanks to its compact dimensions, offering the possibility of elegant installation. Additionally, the Supernova M99, integrated brake light is included as the rear light, with a minimalistic design but impressive functions.

The Homage4 is a model with integrated brake lights, which is a feature we definitely see as a major safety plus.

The Homage4 GT Rohloff HS comes equipped with the Supernova Mini Pro 45 as the front light, ensuring excellent visibility with a minimal light beam of 700 lumens and a higher one of 1300 lumens.
Additionally, the rear brake light, Supernova M99, is also integrated into this system, illuminating every time the lever blade from the Magura MT4 is pressed, with a light intensity of 9 cd for the tail light and 50 cd for the brake light.

If you get the 5 kg rated front rack and matching roll-top pannier, you should reposition the light on the front of the rack to avoid interference with the light beam.

SADDLE

The lowerable saddle means you can stop comfortably at any time without getting off. The saddle is lowered by remote control and your feet reach the ground.

This enhances versatility, enabling easy adjustment of the saddle height when mounting or dismounting the bike or while pedaling. Operating akin to an office chair, a simple press raises or lowers the seat height, facilitating seamless entries, exits, or stops.

This feature allows for a fully extended leg while in motion and ensures convenient ground contact when necessary.

TIRES

As standard you’ll get the Schwalbe Super Moto-X tires. This wider tires will help you cross cobblestone streets and avoid falling on the rails.

Featuring larger balloon sizes for increased comfort and stability, as well as specialized tread patterns for better traction, and the combination of Greenguard (three extra millimeters of India rubber under the fabric) and Raceguard (an extra layer of fabric) technology enhances the overall puncture resistance of these tires, you’ll definitely feel safer on the road.

If you like riding your E-Bike off-road, then simply equip it with first-class Schwalbe all-terrain tires, having for that available the GX option.
Their flat tire studs in the middle of the running surface have extremely low rolling resistance for faster riding on straight sections. The solid tire studs on the shoulders of the tire guarantee exceptional grip, particularly when cornering.

suspension

Riese & Müller Control Technology embodies safety and dynamism. The finely tuned full suspension of the rear swing arm guarantees a sporty riding experience and exceptional traction, even at high speeds.
At the heart of Control Technology lies the active rear swing arm, optimized front wheel suspension, and co-sprung luggage carrier.

The SR Suntour suspension with 100 mm travel up front and 105 mm at the rear responds very sensitively, filtering out small vibrations on gravel paths and bigger hits from curbs and potholes, thus ensuring a silky-smooth ride.

The SR Suntour Mobie 34, with an air amplitude of 100 millimeters and designed for cross-country models, ensures excellent stability. Its stiffness can be adjusted manually in the fork without the need for special tools. This feature is particularly appreciated on the cobblestone streets of downtown Porto, where riding can be quite challenging.

The rear shock is hidden by the frame, where it’s tricky to reach.

REAR RACK

The Homage4 comes fully equipped to handle diverse transportation tasks.

The rack is part of the sprung mass, which improves handling when you’re hauling cargo and protects fragile or sensitive items from impacts and vibrations.

With the MIK system, we can quickly and easily swap accessories, making it ideal for carrying luggage.

For additional storage space, panniers can be attached on both sides. And when you're ready for a sporty ride, the carrier can be easily removed at any time.

As a standard feature, a 90 cm Abus Bordo X+ 6000 black lock is positioned below the frame for convenient storage when not in use. However, we definitely recommend something bigger, such as chains, as 90cm is not enough to properly secure the frame to a safe location.
