BOSCH’S UPDATE

Bosch has launched a new software upgrade this June to provide more engine torque and power stability for the Gen4 Performance Line CX, Performance Line Speed, Cargo Line and Performance Line CX Race.

85 NM TORQUE

According to the German manufacturer, in technical terms, there's an increase to a maximum of 85 Nm.
In simpler terms, this translates to improved sustained gear shifts, enhanced acceleration, and a more responsive engine to pedal input.

more powerful than ever

The update was designed for the Performance Line CX, specifically for mountain bikes, to assist riders in conquering steep hills with a powerful boost, even during low gear shifts. The goal is to dynamically offer crucial support, even when riding in less-than-ideal gears or at a slow pace.

Increased to 85 Nm, the torque ensures greater performance, which is particularly evident in low cadences. This enables riders to accelerate quickly and makes it easier to start off on steep terrain. This also means riders have more power available directly in difficult conditions.

THE eMTB RELAUNCHED

The Performance Line CX offers a unique eMTB experience: Since model year 2021 with torque of up to 85 Nm, new motor control features and an enhanced eMTB mode – all as a software update. The new Performance Line CX makes every uphill ride a pleasure as the ideal warm-up for the subsequent downhill.

The eMTB engine mode, in the Performance Line CX engines, adapts automatically the support level between the Tour (140%) and Turbo (340%) modes depending on the pedal pressure. Here it is tweaked to face pressure variation even more sensitive, according to a response in the form of decisive impulses: now more extended, in which pedalling will rarely result in a jam (ideal to negotiate to overcome logs, stones or exposed roots).

The new Extended Boost function is aimed to provide optimal support to clear technical obstacles, with an extended cadence to prevent the engine of “running” out of steam in critical moments.
According to Bosch, the engine range or lifespan won’t be affected as it will only use the peak torque in short periods.
